Review: Uncle Bubble Mega Loop & Giveaway!

If there’s one thing my kids love, it’s bubbles.

A couple of years ago we went to a family music festival and one of the stage shows had a ‘bubble expert’ doing all sorts of tricks with bubbles. Part of the performance was putting members of the audience inside… you guessed it… huge bubbles!

We’d never seen anything like it before and the kids thought it was amazing. So when the opportunity to review the Uncle Bubble Mega Loop and try our hands at making giant bubbles came up, we jumped at the chance.

What is the Uncle Bubble Mega Loop?

The Uncle Bubble Mega Loop basically lets make bubbles that are so big you can actually stand inside them! Yes, I had visions of recreating the stage show with my own children.

The box contains everything you need – a bottle of special concentrated bubble mixture, an inflatable ‘tray’, a large bubble wand and an instructions booklet.

How do you get started?

NJ (9 years old) was typically impatient to get stuck in so while I took the unfamiliar ‘reading the instructions’ route. Before I had even finished the first page he had already assembled the wand so it isn’t particularly difficult. There are a couple of plastic nuts which hold it all together tightly, which he didn’t quite fasten properly, but apart from that it was really simple to assemble.

Blowing up the tray that holds the fluid was left entirely to me though – there are two values that you use to blow up the two walls but it doesn’t take much puff at all.

What did we think?

NJ and Roo (5 years old) had great fun playing with the Mega Loop but we couldn’t quite get bubbles as large as the ones shown on the box.

Unfortunately the weather hasn’t been kind to us this week – it has been breezy which meant the wind either popped the bubble or blew it into the kids. Typically the furthest we got was waist height, but did manage a few that were higher.

The wind didn’t put the kids off and they kept wanting to try to get better and better.

The short-lived bubbles may have also been down to me diluting the solution too much – the guide does recommend using 9 parts water when you’re practising so next time we will try it with a lot less.

Overall, the kids found it lots of fun. It would be great for parties or games in the garden over the summer and a great alternative to the usual bubble wands and swords we have around the house.
